How to make A glowing tomato

Boo!

Boo!

BOO! haha, got you there. What’s that glowing red thing you ask? But of course it’s a tomato!

What if I say that this tomato is mutated?  and that every tomato glows in this particular tree. You believe? No?

Okay….okay, it’s just a normal tomato injected (using syringe) with some chemical which is pretty easy to get anywhere – even in your household.

This would be a cool project for your chemistry class or maybe for events like halloween or if you’re just bored and trying to have fun.

Warning:

Do NOT consume the tomato after this. And no, you will not glow after consuming this tomato so don’t try.The undertaker will be glad to have your body taken later. 🙂

You’ll need:

  1. A tomato (but,of course)
  2. Bleach
  3. A box of non-safety matches (specifically one that has high phosphorus content)
  4. Hydrogen peroxide solution

I heard you asking where to get hydrogen peroxide. You can purchase them from almost anywhere. Drug stores, convenience store, pharmacies.

Tools

  1. Knife
  2. Small container
  3. Syringe

What to do:

  1. Using a knife, scrap off the top head of your matches
  2. Have these put into the container.
  3. Add bleach into them and dissolve fully
  4. Let it stand for 2o minutes
  5. 2 layers will form after that, then, using the syringe, extract the top part of the liquid
  6. Inject the tomato with the liquid
  7. Next, you will need a syringe with hydrogen peroxide
  8. Inject the hydrogen peroxide into the tomato.
  9. You’re done!
